Mirror Will Writing Service in Bristol
What is a Mirror Will?
In essence, Mirror Wills are two separate legal documents that are practically identical, except for the name of the personal and perhaps funeral wishes.
Mirror Wills are most commonly made by couples, married and unmarried, that have very similar wishes regarding how their Wills are written up.
The most common example of a Mirror Will is that one partner leaves everything to the remaining partner and vice versa, and that whichever dies last then leaves everything to their child/children or other named inheritors.
At Bristol Will Writing we can offer you guidance and help you make some of the important decisions that come with writing a Mirror Will. Whatever your personal circumstances, you will receive the most considered and professional guidance from ourselves.
What does creating a Mirror Will allow me to do?
Unlike a Single Will, a Mirror Will is not based entirely around your own personal wishes. If you and your partner have very different wishes, then it is best to create Single Wills.
Mirror Wills will allow you to do the following, some may be advantageous for you, others not, so read carefully:
- Jointly bequeath your possessions to named individuals
- Jointly split your finances and estate between named individuals and charities
- Name the legal guardians of your children (if they are under 18)
- Choose who will protect the inheritance of your children until they are of age (18)
- Specify any requests regarding possessions, etc
- Name who you would like to be responsible for sorting out your Will (Executor of the Will)
- Simplify the process by having identical wishes which automatically shift depending on who passes first
- After the Mirror Wills have been written, you may change or update your wishes without telling the other person
- You are under no obligation to keep your Mirror Will after your partner dies
